Plain answers

What happens to your manuscript here

Writers are right to ask this before uploading a book they spent two years on. Here is the specific answer rather than a reassuring one.

Never trained on
Your writing is not training data. Not now, not later.
File not stored
Uploads are parsed in memory and discarded.
AI is opt-in
The default analysis makes no model calls at all.

This product exists because a lot of writers want editing help and do not want a machine writing their book or learning from it. That only means anything if the specifics hold up, so here they are.

The measurements never leave your browser

Mechanics, repetition, sentence metrics, and readability are computed on your own machine as you read. No request is made to score your prose.

Spelling is the one server call

The dictionary is too large to ship to the browser, so a spelling check sends the chapter text to our server, checks it, and returns findings. It is not stored and not logged.

AI suggestions are opt-in and labelled

If you ask for an AI edit suggestion or a developmental report, that text goes to a model provider to produce it. You are told before it happens. If you never ask, it never happens.

We do not train on your work

Not to improve a model, not to build a dataset, not anonymised. If that ever changed it would be an opt-in decision you make, not a policy update you skim.

How it goes

  1. 1

    You import

The file is read in memory. The original is never written to storage.

  2. 2

    You read the findings

Computed locally. Spelling is checked server-side and discarded after.

  3. 3

    You delete

Removing a manuscript removes its text.

Questions

Do you train AI models on my writing?

No. Your manuscript is not used as training data for any model, ours or anyone else’s.

Is my uploaded file stored?

No. It is parsed in memory during import and discarded. The extracted chapters are saved to your account, and deleting them deletes the text.

Does anything go to an AI provider?

Only if you ask for an AI suggestion or a developmental report. The default analysis makes no model call. When you do ask, the relevant text is sent to the provider to generate that response and is not used for training.

Can I get my work back out?

Yes, at any time, as a document. There is no lock-in and no export fee.

Who can see my manuscript?

You. Support cannot read your chapters as part of normal operation, and would only ever look at content you explicitly send us to debug a problem you reported.

Now you know what happens to it.

Import a chapter free.
